The A - Z of Science Books for 2nd Graders

The best approach is therefore to locate suitable books that can captivate the students’ interest in science. Who says that Science doesn’t make for good stories? Here’s an alphabetical list of some of the best science books for 2nd graders out there, suitable for 2nd graders. 

 


 A - Astronomy 

Books that focuses on space and the stars can do wonder on young readers. Titles like There’s No Place Like Space: Astronomy by Hershel Ogden and All About Our Solar System by Tish Rabe, both being part of the Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library, is a colorful and instructive look into places in space.

 

 B - Biology

 Living organisms are fundamental to science curriculum. Books like The Magic School Bus: Explaining the human body to young readers and how it works: The books that helped me to do so are: 1) Inside the Human Body by Joanna Cole. 

 

 C - Chemistry 

 Make chemistry fun – that is the approach that is applied in this project by using simple experiments and colorful illustrations. What’s the World Made of: One instructional work that I’ve found useful is called: All About Solids, Liquids, and Gases written by Kathleen Weidner Zoehfeld, and it’s nicely aimed at 2nd graders.

 

 D - Dinosaurs 

Children shall remain fascinated anytime they come across information about dinosaurs. National Geographic Little Kids First Big Book of Dinosaurs by Catherine D. Hughes is packed with information and spectacular pictures that will help the little readers to explore the world of dinosaurs.  

 

 E - Earth Science 

Making the exploration of the Earth and its processes interesting is done by such books as Earth! My First 4. Another children’s book is 54 Billion Years by Stacy McAnulty. Most importantly, this book helps Earth to speak for itself with an easy to understand manner of geology and planetary science.

 But it’s good to know some physics, even basic that can begin with books like Move It! Motion, Forces and You by Adrienne Mason tells. The ideas and topics of the book are such as gravity, friction and speed which they explain in simple words and using clear examples. 

 

G – Hoe, Gartenzucht und Pflanzen 

These books about plants and gardening are essential for creating a child’s lifelong interest in nature. The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle is one of the books which have bright illustrations children will easily understand how seeds develop into plants.  

 H - Human Body 

 Such books include me and My Amazing Body by Joan Sweeney which expounds on great details about the human body

 

G – Geography
